Have a Game Plan on Twitter.
It drives me crazy when people say, “What do you do on Twitter?” I tried it for a few weeks and found it to be useless. I think the real problem here is that people do not have a game plan. There are so many ways to use Twitter and you have to find the best way that works for you. Here is my gameplan, pretty simple, but pretty effective.
1) I use twitter as a media outlet!
Yes each morning I tell people what I have posted on this site and my company blog site. I also try to submit this content several times a day. I heard a podcast in which Guy Kawasaki said he tweets his blog post eight times a day to reach people all over the world.
2) I use twitter to connect with people!
Yes, I connect with all kinds of people. I connect with Marketers, People in different Industries and Local Professionals and Friends.
3) I use twitter to find the latest developments on news and information.
I know certain people who always tweet the latest news on items like agriculture, blog topics, technology and marketing.
4) I use twitter to follow-up on conversations.
I send direct messages to people with phone and email information to continue the conversation.
5) I use twitter to follow up on sales requests.
Yes, people occasionally use twitter to send me a request for analysis and supplies.

These are daily processes that I do throughout the day. I have Twitter running in the background and use it as a resource as needed. What does a typical day of twitter look like at your work?
The important thing is to have a game plan on twitter if you want to have a good experience. This post is not about measuring your marketing efforts on twitter. This post is about incorporating twitter into your day-to-day business processes. Sometimes, it is easy to forget what a useful tool, twitter can be.
