If you are in marketing, your head is always spinning with ideas for new ways to market your existing products or services or introducing a new product or service. Formulating ideas is a part of your job. I believe generating ideas is an art. You have to be “business smart” but you certainly do not need an MBA.
The best “business smart” people have one secret regarding ideas… That secret is that they seek out advice from their closest associates or outside contacts to see if their idea makes sense
By telling someone, you will receive more feedback regarding your idea. Also, be ready for some people to question your idea. This is a good thing. You will have to stand by your idea if you really believe in it and it is best to hear comments like this from people you trust the most versus others in your organization who may be opposed to your idea.
The next time you have a great idea…Tell someone and get some more feedback.
Once you have your idea, you need to sell it to your co-workers. (Don’t forget this step) Communicating your idea is also an important part of this process. It never hurts to get another perspective on this part either.
Good Luck with implementing your next “Great Idea”
